Prevention of Medical Errors

This course examines the significance of medical errors in healthcare. It covers definitions of related terms, presents the common causes of medical errors and identifies the types of medical errors. You will learn about the untoward effects of medical errors on the patient/family, the health care professional, and health care facilities. Safety goals for special populations and other safety interventions are presented. Florida's statutory requirements for addressing and reporting medical errors is covered in-depth. This course fulfills the Florida requirement for nursing professionals and nursing home administrators for 2 hours of continuing education on Prevention of Medical Errors.
