Over her career, Mary (Meg) Nielsen has gained valuable experiences and insight while working in a variety of progressive roles, both in facility and at a regional level, affording her a wealth of knowledge. During this time Ms. Nielsen has gained expertise in many areas to include, but not limited to:

  • Interdisciplinary Process

  • Health Care Risk Management

  • Skilled Nursing Facility Operations

  • Medicare Practices/Documentation

  • Quality Assurance & Improvement

  • Long-term care rules and regulations

Ms. Nielsen began her healthcare career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in her home state of New York where she later obtained her RN with an associate of Science Degree. Upon moving to Florida, Ms. Nielsen became fascinated with the need for safety and support of the elderly, thus her call to work in long-term care nursing. In 1990, Ms. Nielsen wished to enhance her skill set in long-term care nursing and completed her education for Health Care Risk Management. She then obtained her certification in Legal Nurse Consulting.

Ms. Nielsen has held a variety of roles from facility hands on, nursing management and Assistant Director of Nursing, Risk Manager through Regional Nurse Consultant, Regional Risk Consultant and Divisional Director of Clinical Services.

​

During her career, Ms. Nielsen became active in the Florida Directors of Nursing Association and became a Certified Director of Nursing while she served as secretary for five years, and Treasurer for 10 years, for the Pinellas County Chapter. Ms. Nielsen also sat on the tri-state disaster planning board for 2009.

 

Ms. Nielsen believes in ongoing education and training and has completed the CMS recognized Infection Preventionist SPICE Certification by North Carolina, and the NIPP Training Certificate by RB Health Partners.

 

In her personal time, Ms. Nielsen enjoys staying connected, reading, learning, and spending time with her family, especially her twin granddaughters and grandson. Her two cats Finnigan and Spencer are great company as she enjoys her South Carolina home.
