Shirley A. Hunziker, RN, HCRM, LNC

Vice President of Risk Management

Shirley Hunziker has been a Registered Nurse since 1977, practicing acute and long-term care. She is an experienced Health Care Risk Manager and Legal Nurse Consultant.
 
Ms. Hunziker hails from Tennessee and began her career as an RN Charge Nurse in the city’s Emergency Room in Murfreesboro.
 
Before joining RB Health Partners, Inc., she progressed through facility roles from RN Charge Nurse up to DON and served in a Corporate Role serving skilled and assisted living facilities as the Corporate Director of Risk Management.

During eleven years in Tennessee, Ms. Hunziker held responsibilities as:

 

  • Director of Nursing Service

  • Assistant Director of Nursing

  • Nursing Supervisor

  • Staff Nurse

  • Post-Operative Surgical Unit

  • Emergency Room

  • Psychiatric Nursing

  • Intensive Care Unit

  • Quality Assurance Coordinator

  • RN Consultant

After moving to Florida, she worked as:

 

  • RN Supervisor

  • Head Nurse, Medicare Wing

  • Director of Nursing

  • Director of Nursing Preceptor

  • Regional Clinical Consultant

  • Corporate Director of Risk Management

With many years' experience in risk management, Ms. Hunziker adds expertise to RB Health Partners in the form of:

 

  • Worked with Management Company having oversight of 27 skilled nursing facilities and ALF in Florida, Indiana, and Ohio for 10 years.

  • Record reviews for all potential and current claims of facilities, with attendance at Mediations as the spokesperson for the facility and management company. 

  • Tracking and trending event reports, adverse event reports, liability claims, survey outcomes, and customer and employee satisfaction surveys.

  • HIPAA privacy and compliance training of corporate and facility management.

  • Oversight and Education for all facility Directors of Social Services.

  • Policy and Manual development for Risk Management and Advance Directives.

  • Development of policies for facility Discharge Planning process.

  • Oversight and education for all facility Risk Managers and Management Teams to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and risk management guidelines.

  • Member of the Pre-Survey Team which prepared facility staff and management for their upcoming Annual Certification Survey. 

 

Ms. Hunziker earned her Associate Arts Degree in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Other education/credentials include:

 

  • Critical Care Nursing

  • Certified Director of Nursing in Long-Term Care

  • Licensed Health Care Risk Manager

  • Certified Legal Nurse Consultant

 

Ms. Hunziker enjoys spending time with her husband and family. They are proud parents and grandparents.
